Michael England Lee

Salt Lake City, Utah – Michael England Lee, age 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 doing what he loved most; watching the Dodgers game and spending time with his family.

Born on June 27th, 1954, Michael was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and, in his late teens, moved to Portland, Oregon where he met the love of his life, his wife Kay Carman Lee. Together they had 4 amazing kids and 6 beautiful grandchildren. His family was the greatest joy of Michael’s life.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kay, and children: Derek, Nathan(Shannon), Cameron(Jessica), and Lynnsie(Jeffrey). As much as Michael loved his kids, the apples of his eye were his grandchildren: Lukas, Jaxson, Kayden, Lynnette, Dustin, and Hannah. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Rosemary Lee, and also survived by his siblings: Steven(Nancy), Vicki(David), Patti(Carey), Judy(Randy), and Parry(Lauri), as well as many loved nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Michael will be remembered for his love of reading, music, and sports. Before passing, Michael estimated that he had read well over 5,000 books. Michael loved music, especially Paul McCartney and the Beatles, and he was ecstatic to have been able to see McCartney twice in concert. Michael was an avid and loyal sports fan with the Dodgers being his favorite team for over 60 years. He was beyond elated when the Dodgers won their first World Series title since 1988 this past November.

Some of Michael’s fondest memories are from time spent with his family on the Oregon Coast, with his favorite locale being Cannon Beach. He also enjoyed taking trips to Wendover and Las Vegas.

Michael made an impact on everyone that he met with his intelligence, acceptance and witty remarks. He could and would contribute meaningful conversation on any topic with absolutely anyone and that was the beauty of Michael. Of course, his smart wit would always be thrown in for good measure. It is fair to say that everyone loved Michael.

In lieu of a funeral service there will be an open house at his residence on 4379 Maidie Lane in West Valley City, Utah on Sunday, July 11th from 2-5:00 pm to celebrate Michael’s life. Never one for formality, Michael wanted anyone coming to the event to wear their favorite sports team apparel and, per his wishes, no ties.

He was the best father in law a girl could ask for. My feelings towards him and Kay run very deep. They were a couple that amazed me in so many ways. I will always hold you both in my heart forever.
