Matthew James Arellano Sr.

West Jordan, Utah –

On the evening of September 29th, Matthew James Arellano lost his battle with Covid and joined his father James Arellano and grandparents Arthur and Flora Arellano in Heaven.

Matthew Arellano was born on January 21, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah to his proud parents James and Dorothy Arellano. He is survived by his mother Dorothy Arellano, wife Lynda Arellano, son Matthew Gabriel Arellano, daughter Solei Gonzales, along with numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Matthew was a man of few words but when he spoke, everyone listened and most of the time were laughing from his amazing Arellano humor. He was caring and just like his father, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. His motto in life was “God’s Plan”.

He became a passionate Hot Wheels collector and seller. He will always be the “Hot Wheels Cholo”.  Music and fast cars were life for Matthew. When Gabriel started his music career, he became his #1 fan and always encouraged him to move forward with his dreams.

Matthew and Solei’s father/daughter connection was so special. It was an adjustment for him from raising only a son (“so many emotions”, he would say), but he did it flawlessly. The love they had for each other is beautiful. She is his daughter, his blood.

My Love, you made the last 6 years of my life the most amazing years. You made me laugh every day. It’s unbearable knowing you will not be with me here but I know you are going to be in my ear till we are together again. We love you 222.

A celebration in honor of Matthew’s life will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Pioneer Hall from 4:00 – 5:30 PM, 1137 West 7800 South, West Jordan, UT, 84088.

I remember the day we all made tamales; Matthews job was to put the mole & veggie’s in the masa. Lynda told him to put 3 or 4 sticks of carrot, potato & green pepper.
When we stopped and looked at these puny tamales Lynda and I were like what the heck!
All he could say was; I did what I was told and no more because I didn’t want to screw it up.
We laughed all day about that. It was a great day.
I hope these memories will help ease the pain in your hearts today and tomorrow will be a little easier.
Lynda, Jr & Solei your are in my prayers
    Vaya Con Dios Matthew

Matthew will be missed by so many. He was an amazing friend and confidant. Lynda, I only met you once, but I could see & feel the connection you two had. He loved you so much. He always had wonderful things to say about you. I will miss my friend so much. I hope you are able to find some peace knowing that you will be reunited in heaven one day and that he is now your guardian angel looking out for you and the kids. You and the kids are in my thoughts.

Cousin Matthew, you were taken too soon from this Life, to begin preparing a new Life for your loved ones when they too pass.

Your kindness, passion, laughter, and love are your legacy that you leave behind.

We will miss you. We will cry for you. We will mourn for you. We will use your Life as an example of goodness. We will never stop loving you.

Until we see each other, love to you and to your family; and may peace be with you and them.
