Ruth Ann Torres

Ruth Torres

1956 ~ 2015

“Ruthie”

Too soon our loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother and friend passed away surrounded by her family on December 4, 2015. Ruth Ann was born September 26, 1956 to loving parents Rey R.and Gloria O.Torres. Ruth Ann had a life full of physical ailments. She never complained and always had a smile as the next complication would enter her life. She loved her children and grandchildren and never turned down an opportunity to have them around! She was an amazing cook and enjoyed using her skills for family gatherings. It was amazing that even being legally blind she learned to crochet beautiful blankets.

Ruth Ann was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints and though she was not able to attend as much as she would have liked she knew her Heavenly Father loved her. We are sad to let her go, but we are comforted knowing she is no longer suffering. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is leaving behind a legacy of strength, courage and unselfish love!

She was preceded in death by her grandson Trejon Fite, parents Rey R. and Gloria O.Torres and her husband Derwin Mason. She is survived by their three children Marcela Ann Torres (Jason), Maseo Damone Mason (Charita), Derek Ramone Mason (Moala), stepdaughter Starshima Brown whom she loved like her own and special caregiver Kadi Mason.

She is also survived by her siblings Gloria Rae Hernandez (Manuel), Rafael R. Torres (Beto) and Raquel Torres (Quela),12 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family gives a special thanks to Ruthie’s friends at Aspen Ridge West and to the wonderful doctors and nurses at IMC and St. Marks hospitals for working to allow her son Derek to spend some time with his mother before she received her wings.

Funeral services will be held December 10, 2015 at the Taylorsville 30th Ward located at 4950 South 1950 West, Taylorsville, Utah. There will be a viewing beginning at 12:30 p.m. and funeral services will start at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Park Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.

    Dear sweet Ruthie,

I remember you while growing up as always happy. Your smile and your giggle were so cute. You and Quela would always be playing together and brought so much joy to all the family. As you grew and became a mom, you just seemed to take what life gave you and made the best of it. You loved everyone, and were loved in return.

Its sad for us left behind that you are now in Heaven. I can imagine the wonderful reunion you had with all the families who have gone before you, and I’m sure you were welcomed with loving arms. Please watch over your sisters and brother. Guide your children as they go about their lives, let them know you are always near.

    Love from your Gonzales cousins,
Margie & Terry, Barbara & John, Jim, Edna, Gene and all families.

I remember when we were very young all of our families getting together at Aunt Lucy’s house, Ruthie seemed to always be the littlest toddler running around with her little short legs. Long hair/pigtails was the order of the day. We we would go into Grandpa’s little house, they would always shoo us out. God rest your little self Ruthie, go and rest in the arms of your mom/dad, and the rest of your welcoming family members. Love your cousin Jeanie (Gomez) Ferguson.
