Rebecca Leigh Hoyt
1978~2018 Rebecca Leigh Hoyt passed away on July 29th, 2018 unexpectedly, while at home with her family. She was born on May 29th, 1978 in a small town; Soda Springs, Idaho. Later on in her life, a funny coincidence is that Rebecca would marry Shannon Michael Hoyt, a young man from a small town; Springville, Iowa. It was not really love at first sight for those that know the stories, but their paths crossed multiple times leading up when they began dating; eventually marriage. From the moment that Rebecca came into my life, we were together. We worked together when things got difficult, we studied together while we advanced our educations, and planned all our family trips… together. She was my everything and she always will be.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Shannon Hoyt, and her daughter Cecilia Hoyt. She used to joke though that she was the Oldest – Youngest – Middle child in her family. Rebecca was the oldest of her siblings on her father’s side of her family: Melinda Anderson / Steven Luthi / Daniel Luthi / Ben Luthi / and Katrina Luthi. Her father Steve Luthi and Step-mother Linda Luthi lived in Salt Lake City, UT. If I were to attempt to list all the family members on her dad’s side of the family, we would run into 2 other web-pages. Family vacations, get-togethers, and dinners were huge events, and sometimes took days and weeks to plan.
Rebecca was the youngest sister on her mom’s side of the family: Brandy Dorrans. Her mother Jody Klatt lives in Placerville, CA on a beautiful property nestled in the mountains of northern California. When her mother re-married our new Pop – Jerry Klatt, Rebecca became the middle child to her sibling: Benjamin Klatt.
She was a child and fan of the nineties. Her favorite group was the New Kids on the Block, and this caused many a jokes, razzings and fun banter between her and I. She was also a volunteer for the Salt Lake Comic Con family. So many times, they welcomed our family with open arms, and made us feel so special. Just between these two special groups, Becca got the opportunities to meet actors, actresses, see concerts, backstage; and just pretty much fan-girl her little heart out!!
Rebecca was a mom that gave everything she had to others. Her daughter was a member of Jobs Daughters International, and Rebecca supported her in every way possible. She was loved by all the other daughters, and she loved them with all her heart. Becca would have done anything, volunteered her time in any way for these girls. While I was in the Military, Rebecca was the support that kept our household in order. When I joined the Navy, she became our military family readiness coordinator. She was our back-up, and whenever we needed help with medical issues and benefits paperwork, Becca was right there to take care of us.
Becca Hoyt has touched so many lives, been able to travel to so many locations in U.S. I do not know if she knows just how many friends and family she had. The love and condolences that have poured in from all over, would amaze her more than she will ever know.
A viewing for Rebecca Hoyt will be held on Friday, Aug. 3rd, 2018, at 10 AM. This will be held at Mount Olympus Presbyterian Church (3280 East 3900 South, SLC, UT). A service will follow immediately at 10:30 AM. There will be a small reception as well, at the church for friends and family to share stories.
I lieu of flowers, and gifts…family has set-up a Memorial Acct in Rebecca Hoyt’s name at any America First Credit Union branch, or a GoFundMe page.

Becca was a peme, and had been transported to SLC . When she had to be moved to the Logan, Ut hospital, her Grandpa Jackson and myself would drive up to see, love, and rock her every night until she was well enough to go back to Idaho. She was fighter from day one till the day she died. I love you baby girl……grandma Jackson
I cherish the memories of times spent with Becca, even though we did not see each other often. We did keep in touch and I have treasured the photos and accounts of your lives and interests, and especially watching dear Cecilia Irene grow up. My heart is with all of you as you meet the challenges with the courage and love that was what Rebecca was made of, and what she leaves with you My sincerest condolences to all her family. Bev Klatt
