1975 ~ 2017

MaryAnn Briggs-Mangum
August 14, 1975 – September 15, 2017 (42 yrs)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sept 15, 2017. Born to John and Carol Briggs on Aug 14, 1975. She is Mom to Christen Mangum, Jessica Roberts (Shelby), Steven Mangum, and Devin Mangum. She is Grandma to RayLynn Roberts. She is the Sister to John (Chari), David (Jill), Brian (Kimberly), and she meets Jennifer in Heaven. She is granddaughter to Ruby Briggs, and meets Grandpa Calvin Briggs and grandparents Gordon and Leone Gurr in Heaven. She is family to the Mangums, who love her and will miss her deeply.
She fought for every one of the 42 years she lived. Through brain tumors, thyroid cancer, divorce, raising children, and broken bones she braved through with good humor and an iron will, teaching us that nothing can bring you down. She spent her younger years hiking, dancing, running, doing gymnastics, and being a social butterfly. She loved family trips and traveling. She graduated in ‘93 from Murray High. She married Daniel Mangum in ‘94 and they had four children before divorcing in ‘07. She raised four children, whom she loved deeply and gave everything for, teaching them to be self sufficient, to be strong, and to rely on each other. She was so proud of every one of her children and what they’ve accomplished, and they are proud that she is their mother.
She spent her days watching her granddaughter and talking with her children. She loved every moment of being Grandma, spoiling RayLynn with clothes and kisses. MaryAnn was a natural-born listener and problem-solver, guiding her children through their life and struggles. MaryAnn is a fighter. She showed everyone what it means to be strong. She loved deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, and countless honorary brothers, sisters, and family members.
Viewing will be on Thursday, September 21 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday, September 22 at 11 am and there will be a short viewing before from 9:30-10:45 am. Both the viewing and service will be at 5750 S Nena Way in Murray. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Even after our marriage ended we still loved and cared for each other and worked together to raise our kids. She (and I) are very proud of the family we made together..

She DEFINATELY was one of gods greatest gifts to all. To her kids and granddaughter, may her memory and teachings follow you throughout your lives, and practice those teachings and your lives will be grand.

Carol, so sorry for your daughter passing on .. losing a child is just awful but we know that life goes on and that’s the only consolation… She sounds like she was a great person and I’m very sad… Wishing your family my love ‼️❤️Cheryl LILLYWHITE
