After lingering health problems Marion Elmo Dennison passed away peacefully June 30, 2019. Marion was born January 21, 1941 in the small community of Abraham, Utah, the sixth child of a family of eleven. Having the desire to join the service of our Country at the age of 17 Marion joined the National Guard with two of his older brothers. After serving three years and becoming very independent, Marion joined the U.S. Coast Guard when he was 20 years of age serving another seven years of active duty! After leaving the Coast Guard he joined the Army National Guard where he served another thirteen years, making a total of 23 years of service.
Marion married Celeste DeRea Smith July 2, 1971 after which they were blessed with six wonderful children. Glen, Marianne, Loren, Justin, Thomas, and Karen. They later divorced. Marion worked in several industries including Kennecott Copper as an Electronics Instrumentation Technician. On October 2, 1992 married Berdene Hammond where they added four additional children to the family: Julz, Kathy, Sherrie, and Denise. Shortly after Marion and Berdene married they worked as hosts for Camperworld for ten years. Marion also enjoyed a short mission working at Deseret Industries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in his later years.
He is survived by his present and ex-wife, ten children and spouses, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his five siblings Dallon, Theo, Dorene, Harold, and Vilate, with each of their families. Deceased before Marion were his parents, two older brothers Orthell and DeVon, and his sister Jane Huntsman.
May Marion rest in peace as he had much courage especially during the years of ill health. Military honors for Marion will tentatively be held October 4, 2019 at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park at 17111 S. Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale, Ut. Anyone interested in attending such services are welcome.
