Lynn Martin Ray

Ray Lynn

1952 ~ 2015

Lynn Martin Ray, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, returned back to the open arms of our Heavenly Father on December 31, 2015, after a valiant 12 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Lynn was born on July 17, 1952, to Leonard and Beth Ray in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of 2 sons. After graduating from West High School, he married his sweetheart, Judith Lucille Moss in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1972.

Together, they were blessed with 4 children: Marty Ray (Vicki), Jamie Ballesteros (Joe), Jason Ray (Maggie), and Shellie Webb (Cody). After 30 years together, Judy passed from this life, and he later met and married his 2nd sweetheart, Marianne Porter (Ray) in 2003, and added two more step sons to his family: Ben Porter (Marti) and Adam Porter (Kirsten).

Lynn was a committed father who focused on his children and grandchildren, supporting them in all of their varying interests, endeavors, and activities, from music and dance recitals, to sporting events, school activities and scouting projects. As a faithful member of the LDS church, he served in many callings in the Primary, Elders Quorum, and Special Events Committee. He also had a love of music, especially of singing in the Ward choir, impersonating Elvis, and playing the accordion.

Lynn is survived by his wife: Marianne, older brother Garn Ray, his 4 children and 2 step children, and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his 1st wife Judy.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Ward Building located on 3845 South 2000 West in Roy, Utah, with a viewing on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Friday, January 8, 2016 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral at 10:30 a.m.

Following the funeral, burial services will be held at the Lakeview Memorial Park, 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.

Lynn’s family wishes to thank all of those who have expressed their love and sympathy, with special thanks to his 2 therapists and home nurse, Bishop Mullins, and members of the Monte Vista Ward for their help and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation on www.gofundme.com under “Lynn Ray’s Funeral Expenses” to help with funeral expenses.

To Marty, Jason, Jamie and Shellie thank-you for all you have done to support your father in his fight against cancer. He loved you so much and still does. and do I I have loved and love Lynn so very much. And I know that I was loved back. More than anyone knew.He is my best friend and husband forever and because I love him so much I don’t mind having to share him. Although now our home will be so empty, his music will not be heard, My arms and heart will be so empty too. I will work even harder here on earth to be ready to be with him again. Rest gently my love till we meet again, what a wonderful day that will be.I will never regret one moment of a life togather so far I will fill my dreams with you. mugamug. your doll, Marianne. P.S I thank all that has helped me so far. And I know he says thank-you too.

I only had the blessing and privilage of knowing Lynn for a brief time, but, in that time I reconized a special spirit. He was both kind and intellegent. He felt obvious love for Marianne and spoke with pride of his children. I wish I could have had more time to get to know him. He will be sorely missed by everyone who was privilaged to be a part of his life. My sincerest condolences to all his loved ones.
