Jose “Joe” E Maestas

1935 ~ 2017

Joe Eduardo Maestas (aka Jose), 82 of West Valley City, Utah. Born in Chacon, New Mexico in 1935. He died peacefully in his sleep at 2:55 A.M. on October 4, 2017 at Avalon West Health & Rehabilitation.

Joe retired as a diesel mechanic over ten years ago at Monroc Gibbins & Reed, he was also a jack of all trades. He was a great family man and a loving person who loved outdoor sports such as fishing, hunting and camping, he also loved to joke, tell stories and play the guitar.

Joe moved from New Mexico to Cheyenne, in his early twenties where he met his surviving wife Ruby Maestas, at time of death he was married 60 years. They had three children, Loretta Maestas Sukhera, Susan Maestas and Joseph Maestas (deceased). He had a brother, Juan Rafael Maestas (deceased) who lived in Colorado and sister, Priscilla Martinez in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He had 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and extended family.

Joe is now joined in heaven by his parents, Frank and Cora Maestas, son, Joseph Maestas, and grandson, Adam Sukhera.

Services will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2017. Rosary at 1:00 pm, Mass at 2:00 pm, at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 4051 W 5215 S, Kearns, Utah 84118.
