Jeffrey Lynn Perkins

Perkins Jeff

1951 ~ 2016

Jeffrey L. Perkins lost a valiant fight to stomach cancer on the morning of July 12th 2016.  He passed away sleeping with his only son at his bedside comforting him in his home.  His strength through the battle with cancer was undeniable.  He endured over 60 rounds of Chemotherapy and more than 50 radiation treatments.  He rarely complained and stayed self sufficient through nearly all of it.  Of course, he was blessed with a tremendous support group made up of family, friends, and neighbors.

Few people these days dedicate their lives to one thing, and master it.  But, Jeff was one of those people.  His younger years were devoted to framing, and construction where he honed his skills and drive for a perfectly square house.  Skills that made him sought after in the valley.  Followed by 28 years of building custom wood furniture.  He would take the vision of an artist and turn it into reality.  He was dedicated and loyal to his workplace of Ty Loyola & Designs.  Each piece of furniture will leave behind a legacy of beautifully handcrafted furniture that will stand the test of time. Each individual piece a homage to his skill and abilities with woodworking.

He was a kind gentle spirit who loved his family more than anything.  He had one son with Sharon Magee who later married Jeff McKee.  All three of them were very tight and stayed strong to raise their son Trevor.  Jeff had two sisters, and two brothers whom he loved dearly.  Of course, that love spilled over into every family member within the Perkins clan.  Family truly was the center of his life, and most often his free time on the weekends would be spent with them.

He passed on his love of nature and the outdoors to his son Trevor who now roams around the wilderness taking photos anytime he can.  He also loved riding dirt bikes, going on hikes, spending time at the lake, and skiing, as he would often haul the kids up to the mountains.  He also loved having bunches of neighborhood kids come over to play.  He may have only had one son, but the kids in the neighborhood were all fond of Jeff and his giant loving black lab Seevo.

Family, friends, and neighbors will miss Jeff.  He was a simple and gentle man, but his kind spirit made anyone feel welcomed and comfortable.  We love you!

May the Peace of God be with you my Friend. You will always be remembered in the hearts of those you have touched through the years. I will always carry you in my heart. You were always there for me & Chris when something was needed to be done in the house. You was my hero when I locked myself out of the house, which was a lot!! I miss cooking for you, and will miss going to the movies with you. Super Bowl games will not be the same without you being there. RIP my Friend!

I am very sorry for your loss. Jeffery’s life was way too short. The obituary does not tell who Jeffery’s parents were. Would you mind forwarding their names and the name of his grand parents if you know them. I am interested in knowing if we are related. Jeffery has an uncanny familial appearance to my father.

    Thank you for your consideration.
    Rick Perkins

I am honored to have been called to care for Jeff along side our son Trevor. Jeff was a continued pillar all the way through his 3 year battle. There will be a void in our life for all our years to come. Every event in Trevor’s life there will always be remembrance of Jeff and we will be projecting what he would have said to his son in every season of his life. We are fortunate to have shared our life with him and to know him so well the last 28 to 34 years. He left us to soon. No more pain, No more suffering, only Love and peace going forward. We all love you Jeff.

Many years ago (about 44 or so) Jeff worked with and was friends with my brother-in-law Leonard. Leonard was killed in a motorcycle crash. I guess they had insurance at work and being young guys they made each other the beneficiaries. When Leonard died Jeff went to my in-laws and gave them the check and none of us could believe it since he was so young. It seems like it was about $7,000. I hope over the years that somebody paid it forward for him since it was such a great thing that he did for the Tripps

Leonards mother is still alive (98) and she saw the obituary in the paper but she asked me if I could get more information than what was in the paper so I found it here for her. She thought it was just wonderful what Jeff had done for the family years ago. I forgot to write this earlier so I am adding it now. Leonard was 21 when he had the accident.

This is a correction about the insurance. I talked to Leonards mother and she said it was$1.700 which was still a lot of money for a young kid to be giving away back then. It would be a lot for a young kid nowadays. She said she really liked him and they were so appreciative. I was way off on the amount. In fact I do not know where I got that amount from.
