Hilton Joseph Mose

1931 ~ 2019

In Loving Memory

Hilton Joseph Mose, 87, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away March 2, 2019 in West Jordan, Utah. Hilton was born in Evergreen, Louisiana on June 1, 1931 to Henry J. Mose and Jervina A. Galland Mose. While he was serving in the U. S. Marine Corp as an MP in Clearfield, Utah, he met Shirley June Larsen. They married November 26, 1954, together for 63 years until her death on April 2, 2018.

He worked in many capacities for Mobil Chemical Refinery in Pasadena, Texas, retiring as the master mechanic for the entire refinery after 42 years of service. He possessed the talent to fix anything with a motor, a skill he began mastering at the age of ten when he took his first car motor apart.

He had a love of the outdoors which he shared with family, friends, and Boy Scouts. His real passion was creating and tending to the backyard garden oasis enjoyed by all living creatures – filling the space with trees, flowers and various plant species. It was a sanctuary for the many birds and successive generations of squirrels living there – many squirrels feeding directly from his hand. Hilton loved to fish and spent hours at his camp in Dayton, Texas catching crawfish. Together, Hilton and his best friend Charles Corr would catch a seafood feast, resulting in a mouthwatering dinner shared with family and friends. He had a sweet tooth for all things containing dark chocolate and a favorite snack food – Twinkies.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving many callings, including as Bishop for eight years. His most rewarding experience was Scout Master where his enjoyment of nature and positive influence set a foundation for many boys to morph into noble men.

He is survived by his children, Kim (Cheryl) Mose, Keith Mose and Antoinette Berges, grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) Mose, Stephanie (Travis) White, Adam (Denyse) Mose, and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley June, siblings Hillary Joseph Moses, Comelia (Felix) Marcelle, Mary (Temus) Carmouche, Sadie Mae Moses, Meta (Eric) Matthews, Ardean (Jack) Howard, Hazel (Travis) Cheshire, Eura V (Edward) Turner, Joseph Qubert Mose, Virgina (John) White.

Interment next to his beloved wife Shirley on March 11, 2019 in Brigham City, Utah at 1:30 p.m. Pall Bearers are Kim Mose, Keith Mose, Adam Mose, Charles Corr, Brad Baldauf and Christopher Weintz.

A Memorial and a life celebration of Hilton will be held March 30, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4202 Yellowstone Drive, Pasadena, Texas 77504.
