Hermanus (Harry) Jan Kom

1948~2018 Our loving dad and grandpa went home.
He passed the morning of September 28, 2018, due to the complications of COPD. He was amazing and kind, always quick to help with anything, even if it seemed like he did not want to. He was full of love and nothing made him happier than time spent with his two grandchildren.
Harry was born in Hague, Holland on December 31, 1948 and then moved to America with his parents at 9 years old. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as a Field Wireman. He would tell stories of his in the Army if you asked, but he never talked about it freely. After the Army, he pursued a few careers, one of which being a Journeyman Electrician. However, his passion and joy quickly became truck driving. He met the love of his life, Pamela Bird, at the close of 1981 and they were married shortly after on February 17, 1982. In 1984, the birth of their first and only son Cody, brought even more love and light into his life.
His parents, Leendert Kom and Margietha Nieuwland, his wife, Pamela Bird, precede Harry in death. What a beautiful reunion it is! His son, Cody (Ashlee) Kom and two loving grandchildren, Alexander and Alyssa Kom, survive him.
“But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ” Mosiah 16:8
