Heidi Ann Hafen

1981 ~ 2019
Heidi Ann Hafen, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, granddaughter, cousin, and friend rejoined our father in heaven on Monday, May 20, 2019. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 11, 1981 to Keith and Judy (Young) Hafen, Heidi grew up and remained in Taylorsville throughout her life, attending Arcadia elementary, Bonneville Jr. High, and graduating from Cottonwood High School.

Heidi was an exceptionally caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially around a campfire or travelling through the beautiful outdoors of Utah she adored. Her faith and love for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was always central to and guided her life. Heidi taught primary for her church and had an amazing ability to connect with little kids. She loved the arts, drawing, photography, and writing poems. She joyously participated in drama club and plays in high school and worked towards becoming a nurse before her many health challenges. Heidi displayed incredible empathy, treated her friends like family, loved children, and cared deeply for animals and her pets. She was extremely patriotic and passionate about honoring fire fighters, police, military, and other service members, especially those who’ve fallen protecting us, and would request that a great way to honor her memory is to honor theirs.

We will always remember and miss Heidi’s warm smile, playfulness, infectious laugh, and incredible hugs. Heidi displayed an inspiring passion to do the right thing and tremendous courage in the face of many struggles, especially considering her sweet and sensitive spirit. She was a source of love and light for many and her influence will live on in us all.

Heidi was preceded in death by her grandparents Mabin and Joyce Hafen, grandfather Don Young, step-grandfather John Weston, and aunt Sue Tedrow. She is survived by her parents Keith and Judy; sister Monica; sister Hailey (Jeff) and nieces Peyton and Sydnie; brother David; brother Tyler (Stacie) and nephew Talon; grandmother Olive, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held June 3, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 4932 S 3200 W, Taylorsville, UT 84129 with a viewing starting at 10:00am and funeral service at 12:00pm.

Dear family who I do not know. My maiden name is Heidi Hafen. I was an ICU nurse at the U hospital long ago. There was a patient list of upcoming admissions and a name Heidi Hafen was on our admissions board. My colleagues were worried that this might be me who was a pending patient. Was your daughter, sister ever a patient at the U hospital for a serious surgery? Sincerely curious with compassion.
