DeMont J. McEwen
1943 ~ 2018 DeMont J. McEwen 1943-2018
St. George, Utah – On May 29, 2018. It is with heavy hearts and mournful sorrow that we say goodbye to Mont. He is survived by his daughters, Lindsey Giacalone and Amy Madden; 4 grandchildren, Gregory Giacalone, Alicia Madden, Samantha Madden and Emily Claremont; sister, RaeDean McEwen and many nieces and nephews. Mont was a lover of life, his laugh could fill any room. Mont was wise beyond his years, studied many books, philosophy and all religions, believing they all offered enlightenment, peace and love. Mont loved being with his friends, and enjoyed photography, stained glass, so many varieties of music (needing to have his speakers placed “just so” for the perfect listening experience), and long rides to look at his volcano and mountains.
He is predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Emma McEwen, his father, Ruben D. McEwen, sister, Gayle Jacobson; son in law, Paul Giacalone and beloved kitties, Tofu and Zena.
Mont served his mission in Liverpool, England, began working for and retired from United Airlines after many, many years. Mont gave so many years of his life to his businesses, Sun Futon and Manhattan Loft. He loved seeing all the new furniture and creating outstanding rooms. Mont helped with the interior design planning of an upscale hotel in Park City.
Mont’s wish was to be cremated and he didn’t want any services to be held. Please hold him in your heart and honor your time together, privately.

Monte was truly a free spirit and now his spirit is truly free. I loved Monte’s zest for life and the connection he had to nature. He was a great man and still is. He was always kind to me and will be truly missed.
I will always remember uncle mont’s very cool cars ,
Mont and my late husband Fred were best friends and soulmates. They were into Physics, Spirituality and discovering all about the Universe.
After Fred died, Mont and I would have long talks on the phone about “Life, the Universe and everything” which were very special to both of us. A year ago my fiancé, Frank Javorek and I had a memorable two day visit with Mont- the last time I saw my remarkable soul brother. I miss him terribly-my only consolation is that he and Fred are together again and will be waiting for me when I pass. I love you Mont and always will! Betsy
Love you Uncle Mont (Joe). You were such a wonderful, compassionate, and respectful Gentleman. You will always have a special place in my heart. <3
Mont was a good man
Mont was the best friend you could have, such a beautiful heart and mind. Our times together: talking, laughing, being in nature will remain treasured memories. I know he is free and joyous and that is a comfort.
I am devastated by this news. I have been trying to reach Mont and have been wondering what happened. Loved this man since I first met him.. He was one of a kind. Much love to Lindsey, Amy and the rest of his family.
Dear Sir Mont-
I still think about you often man-
Getting to know you the last 10 years of your life here was Awesome!
Mont was like Family to us and we Love him♡
He even married my wife and I
His old wise soul- He kept a Mystery at times.
One of the last conversations I had with him was when he was in the hospital and he says ‘ Everything is cool man, I’m even getting a sponge bath here soon ‘followed by his BiG Laugh ‘
Oh My! After I found out how bad off he was, and with him not telling is I was upset!
That was part of the Mystery of Mont;)
I know that he is having a good time reunited with Fred, and he always talked about his guitar friend Michael..
We Love You Mont
Until we see you agian Brother
With Love,
Cory Rice
